As one of the “offenders” for multiple accounts and characters, I have to say that I plan on playing all of the characters I am getting so far (Brood of Uhxbractit, Bastard Daughter, Val’Sosi with Sc’math mount, Tultipetan Dwarf, and the Val’Vasik).

I only have 1 other character outside of these, so I am wanting to play new ones and these new ones in particular in the Blessed Lands. I likely will “gift” 1 or 2 to a couple of friends who I am hoping will join us all in Living Arcanis \":)\" More recruits! And if I can spend some money to get them something special to draw them in, then so be it \";)\"
I’m glad to hear that. My biggest issue with it all is that I’d like to know that those special characters will get played. I’d hate for one of these special characters to become someone’s 4th or 5th character and sit collecting dust when there could have been someone else playing it as a main character.
I purposly didn’t take other pledge levels because I already have 3 characters myself and it’s hard to get enough games in to play them all. As cool as it would be to have the gift of neroth, be a bastard daughter, or chosen by fate, I like my current 3 characters best and wouldn’t want to replace them.

So if they’re all going to go on many adventures then I’m cool with that. ^_^

EDIT: I hope the stories of many of these special characters get written into the main story one way of another. It will be cool to hear what becomes of these kickstarter characters.

I want that Kio book so badly I added a dwarf and a val’Vasik. I don’t think I’ll play them but I will give them out to some local players that weren’t able to get something.

Depending on what the Brood of the Devil King gives to a Dark-Kin, I may or may not have a character idea for it. If I do not, then I will gift it to someone locally or to someone randomly on the forums who wasn’t able to get one in time.

Likewise, if a character with a psionically viable lizard just can’t figure out what to do….I’m alwaysssss around \":P\"

I actually picked up one of the Brood Dark-Kin as well because at first I thought I could retro-fit it to Kelb. After some thinking, it’s possible I’ll release it back into the wild before the Kickstarter ends. It somewhat depends on what mechanical benefits it gives. I’m not sure if Henry will tease the actual benefits prior to the end of the Kickstarter, or not.

Do you have a copy of Legacy of Damnation? I believe the writeup for the brood entry will be used as the basis for the conversion with some modifications and whatnot.

    Hello John,

No, I don’t plan on releasing mechanics prior to the end of the KS. As you know, mechaincs are of secondary concern to me behind story and I need to concentrate on getting everything written before worrying about mechanics.

However, if you or anyone else is thinking of dropping a pledge level, please do so as soon as its decided so as to give others as much time as possible to get it.

This is actually something I was curious about. If I (hypothetically) wanted to convert my Nol Dappan primary to a Tultipetan, is this something that would be permissible?

I don’t want to do this, for the record, I was just curious and hadn’t seen the question asked. How much leniency is there in converting existing characters over to special characters? I assume it isn’t an option with any of the ones that specifically state they start at 1.5.

I guess my big questions are:

    1) Since there are many Broods but only Uhxbractit was offered, does that mean that dark-kins will not be offered the ability to have Brood Powers/Mechanics in the future? Does it mean that Uhxbractit won’t be offered but others might via normal means (books, rewards, etc)
    2) Are the powers automatically given? Do you have to spend Talents to get the powers (Like Val Bloodline Powers)?
    3) Can this be applied to an existing character? (I don’t think so, but it wasn’t explicitly stated as it was with some other pledge levels)

To Henry (who just posted)…I understand completely about the story. But as you said earlier, I’m free to right now say I’m a “Brood of whomever” it just comes with no mechanical difference from any other Dark-Kin. Therefore, the ‘pledge level’ would need to come with something extra on top of that. I will probably make up my mind in the next few days. I really don’t see me starting a new character for primary play, but since there was nothing specifically for dark-kin outside of this pledge level I picked it up to think about.

@Akira – That’s something the LA Staff would need to address, but you are correct in assuming that any special character that states that it begins at1.5 is a new character.

John – Black Vals will not be allowed in the campaign unless we make them special characters at some future KS (and no, I don’t have any plans to do so). As to what they get, no, they will not be like normal Dark ki. That would imply that I am taking advantyage of people’s generosity and I don’t do that.

If you wnat to know exactly what thes ebenefits will be or what it will cost, I cannot answer that and won’t even begin to address this until after the KS is over. If that helps make up your mind, there you go.

Thanks Henry! I didn’t expect them to be normal dark-kin, I just wasn’t sure to what extent a Black Val was different from a Dark-Kin with new special powers. Do they look like Dark-Kin? Do they share some common trait like Val (Black Eyes, etc.). I’ll make a decision soon and either keep it or toss it back into the ring.

What’s the time duration on being able to play one of the PCs from the Kickstarter? In particular, I’m curious about the Tultipetan and the val’Vasik.

I’ve got 3 PCs that I’m very happy with, but eventually (assuming a long, happy Arcanis campaign) they’ll all retire. Can I get an add-on PC, like the val’Vasik, and just keep her in limbo until my primary retires? Even though that might be a few years down the road?

    Thanks.

    Absolutely!

There’s no expiration date on these Add Ons, so you can use them whenever you like, in any story-arc you like.

    Thank you!

Illustrious Incarnation, I was wondering why it’s a talent? All (most) the other ones are more powerful race options, so kind of free bonus, so I was just wondering why a talent.

    Devin,

Because of the nature of the reward.

Look at the other Special Characters and you’ll see that making them a Talent makes little sense (at least to me).

Greetings. I’m posting in a couple of places to try and get more interest in the kickstarter and thought it’d be a great idea to post the link on where to download the free copy of the Codex Arcanis PDF. I can’t find it though. Is it available somewhere?

I figured I could help convince people to invest at least $55 to get the PDF of the Cradle of Empires book + $40 for the PDFs of all the other books + the Codex Arcanis to get them sold on the setting. They obviously get all the other Kickstarter benefits as well.

Is the free PDF of the Codex Arcanis still available, especially if they want to take a quick look in advance before signing up?

    Thanks!

With a sweep of his hat,

    Paul
