    My initial thought is that we write this up as if it is a val bloodline w/ the racial abilities of a dark kin.. We have the basis of the bloodline abilities in legacy of damnation. They would need to get access to them via a ‘bloodline’ talent just as a Val would per tier.

    In the Legacy of Damnation book, there are currently 3 tiers worth of abilities (2 per tier) for this bloodline (pg. 74). We can either stretch it out so it is 1 ability per tier or create two additional tiers worth of abilities for a total of 10. Thoughts?

    Alright ,but these aren’t common Dark kin, but rather first generation spawn of a Devil king, i.e. like a Cambion, so there should be a little bit of a difference there.

    As for the Blood Line powers, I agree, but we need to add some variety and make sure that this character can’t be created by someone making a “normal” Dark kin.

    I think that is the best way is to keep them as mechanically close to Dark-kin as we can, though. Though they are a special kind of Dark-kin, they are still Dark-kin so the only real mechanical benefit that they should get is the Bloodline Power. Looking at the Brood of Uhxbractit in Legacy of Damnation, of the six powers that the Brood got, two of them can be taken as is as Foundation Talents (Infernal Heritage: Fire Born and Wings of the Fiend). However, of these two, one is a foundation talent, so we would include it possibly as being a virtual talent?

    The powers are, basically:

    1) An ability which boosts leadership. In 3.5 it improved your ability to have Cohorts, but in this game it would possibly give bonus’ to Persuasion and Empathy, or simply GIVE you the Leadership (have it count mechanically as Leadership in terms of Leadership Tiers).

    2) The Dark-kin gains a tail attack similar to a Ss’ressen, with the ability to trip. This is probably a fairly simple talent to make.

    3) The Dark-kin gains resistance to Fire, which is the same as an existing Infernal Heritage talent.

    4) Voice of Command, which functions as a rebuke ability in 3.5. I think this should be a 1/scene functional retread of the Rebuke spell for Theurgy, but only works on Infernals and Dark-kin (or other tainted creatures).

    5) Poison breath – Basically give them a “1/scene make a ranged thrown attack against the fortitude of your targets” type of attack.

    6) Wings, which we already have as a Foundation Talent for Dark-kin. One way to do this is to make this bloodline talent a way to get past the “Foundation” aspect of the Wings of the Fiend, allowing players to simply grow wings later in their character progression rather than right at character creation, and then level the wings up.

    We can also pull the stats of Uhxbractit from the last Crusades BI and see what abilities we want to water down and include in the bloodline abilities. You would think that some of those traits might have passed onto his kin.

    I don’t have my books with me as I’m in the office, but from your notes it apear that if we hew to the stats from Legacy, it appears as if a person creating a regular Dark kin can create the tyhpe of character that you describe.

    If so, I really think we need to rethink this and add new options and possibilities.

    Pg 9 of Legacy of Damnation has a descriptive flavor writeup of Cambions. In d20 terms, it was a ‘half fiend’……good to get the creative juices going to start working up the racial stats.

    Do we want to include any of the abilities granted to the Havili that showed up in the earlier mods? For example, they had an Innocent Appearance ability to allow them to travel incognito as Humans and hide their Infernal Traits, but lost this ability when they were angered as I recall.

    Havili or Half-demons have begun to appear across the countryside in recent years. These beings are first generation offspring from Arch Devils from within the Unsealed Lands. They usually appear human unless you catch them off-guard. It is then that the glimmer of the Infernal Taint can be seen. They are often used as messengers as they are far less noticeable than full-blood Infernals.

    Havili (Black Val) Racial Traits

    Attributes: Charisma, Brood Attribute*
    Brood of Uhxbractit – Prowess

    Skills: Any one Physical skill and any one Social skill.
    • All Havili have the Monsterous Trait Innocent Appearance, but can only appear in their Tainted form or as a regular human.
    • The Brood Talent appropriate for your Infernal Brood
    • Any Combat or Skill Talent
    • +1 bonus to Fortitude defense
    • A Havili is treated as a Human and as an Infernal for all effects which specifically target either Humans or Infernals (such as Rebuke (sp))
    Automatic Languages: Infernal; plus one of Altheran, Hainese, Low Coryani, Auxunite, Yhing Hir, or Milandesian.
    Special: All Talents which apply a change to a person’s body (Wings, Claws, etc) only manifest while in Infernal Form. When in human form the Havili cannot make use of these abilities.

    Brood of Uhxbractit [Racial, Limited]
    You are the half-infernal child of the Great Lord Uhxbractit, former Lord of Irons and Infernal Lord upon Onara! As you advance in power, you begin to manifest more and more traits of your Infernal progenitor
    Requirement: Havili
    Benefit: This talent is acquired at Character creation, and is no longer considered limited to you. You can only have a single Infernal Brood talent (such as Brood of Uhxbractit (ta)) for an individual character. Once you have chosen your Infernal Brood, see Tiered Benefits below:
    Tier I: Uhxbractit kept the Infernals of the Sealed Lands in line and under his rule for centuries through his own guile and the force of his charisma. Once per day (Speed 4, range 10′), you may make a Charisma Action Skill Roll, plus double your tier, against the Discipline defense of all creatures within a 10′ radius of yourself. Any affected individual is subject to d(Ch) push. Creatures who cannot hear you are immune to this power.
    Tier II: Uhxbractit was known for his ability to use his tail in battle, smiting creatures left and right. In fact, it was often thought that his tail had a mind of its own. While these wings are manifested you suffer a -2 to your avoidance and have your pace reduced by 5′.
    Special (Restriction): This Talent requires you utilize Custom fitted armor (see Equipment, A: RPG).
    Tier V: While many call Uhxbractit a Devil, he is in fact a creature known as a Fiend, able to take control of victims by occupying their body. While his half-Infernal children lack this power, they still maintain the ability to bend others to their will. Once per scene (Speed: 7, Duration: Scene, Range: 20′) you may reach into a target’s mind by making a Resolve Action Skill Roll, plus double your tier, against their Discipline Defence. If successful, you may force your target to do you will, issuing mental commands to your target as a Simple Skill Action. Your target must perform those commands to the best of their ability, even if it threatens themselves. The affected target may attempt a Mettle: Stand Firm Action Skill Roll every 12 ticks as a Push 4 Action to break your hold on them.

    Further thought: We know Uhxbractit is actually one of the internals who can possess a creature, so maybe drop the Tier V ability to Tier IV (anti”Valinors Wings”) and replace it with an ability to control beings similar to the Thrall spell?

    A quick comment about the wings: A note should be added to the wings about custom armor and ruining clothing, I think.

    Other than that, I’ll have to look over my copy of Legacy of Damnation and come back to this thread.

    Solid work on this one, I don’t see anything wrong with it.

    BUT I would specifically details that black val may take dark-kin traits which “appear” when they drop their Innocent Appearance…. maybe this should require a Push speed?

    The issue with opening up Dark-kin Racial Talents (Infernal Heritage, Wings of the Fiend, etc) have overlap with at least two of the Brood Talent abilities, which means that there could be some issues. What I (as a not-Henry) would like to see is that THESE are the First Generation hybrids of the Infernal/Human races, and as such they have narrower range of their powers, but theoretically more powerful versions of them. After all, the Dark-kin of Onara are something like 50th generation descendants of these creatures, so their powers have since become muddled.

    I don’t know, that’s my view. We might want to include a list of “Infernal Traits” that they have in their normal form.

    1) Natural Claws [Racial] – Havili (Infernal Form)
    2) Horrific Visage [Racial] – Tier III Havili?
    3) Huge [Racial, Foundation] – Havili

    Seem fair?
