Just because I’m a glutton for Punishment, and if nobody else has any issues with the condensed rules that are on the first page, I thought I’d give a try at making additional Havili Broods based on Legacy of Damnation:

Brood of Buhez – Charisma, Vigour

    Brood of Buhez [Racial, Limited]
    Benefit: By Tier
Tier I: Buhez the Foul grants his children the ability to withstand the most foul of poisons. You gain a +1 bonus to your Fortitude Defence against all non-magical attacks on your Fortitude. Additionally, you gain a bonus 5 Stamina.
Tier II: Buhez the foul got his title for a reason. Once per scene (Speed: 4, Range 10′, Duration: Instant) you may release a cloud of stench. Make a Vigour Action Skill Roll, adding double your tier as a bonus on the roll, against the fortitude of all creatures within the power’s radius. If successful, all creatures suffer d(Vi) Push and gain Recovery 4. Any creature incapable of smell (ie: a construct or Elemental) are immune to this ability.
Tier III: Buhez’s toad-like form allows him to leap long distances with ease. You gain the Acrobatics Talent and receive a +1 to all Athletics and Acrobatics action Skill Rolls when jumping.
Tier IV: No quarry can escape the grasp of Buhez. You may add your Passive Quickness to your Passive Melee (Unarmed), as well as to all Melee (Unarmed) Action Skill Rolls made in the process of a Grab, Grapple, and Pin action.
Tier V: No foe can penetrate the thick, stonelike skin of Buhez. You gain a Natural Armour of +2. If you already have Natural Armour, this talent stacks with that previous Natural Armour.

The visions you receive come as a flood of pictures, sounds, and emotions. You may attempt a Routine (TN: 15) Empathy (In) Action Skill Roll to determine a general emotion connected to the visions; fear, disgust, anguish, distrust, or pleasure, for example. At the Chronicler’s discretion, you may also attempt a Challenging (TN: 20) Perception (Lo) Action Skill Roll to recall specific details. These may be sounds, sights, or even a particular scent.

Brood of Buhez – Charisma, Vigour

    Brood of Buhez [Racial, Limited]
Tier III:Just give them the Acrobatic talent, less word count (better on space in the book) and works the same way. Also I would make the bonus to Athletics and Acrobatics narrow (only Jump and Acrobatic checks) but make it equal half the blood rank of the character.

    Brood of Caneturec [Racial, Limited]
Tier IV: we should add the ability to “turn this power off”.. maybe as a push action with some side effect? maybe just push 2?’

    Otherwise, good stuff!

Okay, I have at least the first pass of all the canon Dark-kin bloodlines done. I just thought I’d point out that I’m really starting to notice a theme on some of these powers, making me wonder just how many of the Infernal Lords of the Lordship of Irons and the Thorn Hills are actually fallen Valinor. Caneturec has a Larissan theme, Tulemigantzi seems either Altheran or (more likely) Hurrianite, Zalanadere seems VERY Nierite, while Ghashmet seems a bit on the Nerothian side to me.

    Anyway, hope these look good!

Since there hasn’t been any comments on this for the last week, we good? Can we lock this up?

One more question that I hope we can discuss here:

How are we treating the Havili/Black Val’s in terms of Infernal Taint? For example, if someone were to cast Rebuke, would they be hedged out of the radius of the spell? They are uber-Dark-kin, so it could go either way.

I see no reason for it not to affect them. After all, it affects (full) infernals. So it should affect a half-infernal as well. IMO.

You are the half-infernal child of the Great Lord Uhxbractit, former Lord of Irons and Infernal Lord upon Onara! As you advance in power, you begin to manifest more and more traits of your Infernal progenitor

    Benefit: Per Tier
Tier I: Uhxbractit kept the Infernals of the Sealed Lands in line and under his rule for centuries through his own guile and the force of his charisma. Once per day (Speed 4, range 10′), you may make a Charisma Action Skill Roll, plus double your tier, against the Discipline defence of all creatures within a 10′ radius of yourself. Any affected individual is subject to d(Ch) push. Creatures who cannot hear you are immune to this power.
Tier II: Uhxbractit was known for his ability to use his tail in battle, smiting creatures left and right. In fact, it was often thought that his tail had a mind of its own. You grow a small prehensile tail and, when in your Infernal form, gain the Trip Foe Martial Technique when using the tail. The Tail is treated as a standard unarmed attack, using Melee (Unarmed) as its skill.
Tier III: Uhxbractit was born of the Fires of Hell, and you have inherited his ability to withstand them. You are completely immune to non-magical flames, and possess AR: 6 against magical fire.
Tier IV: Uhxbractit was able to traverse long distances on his massive wings, and in emulation of your ancestor, you also grow a pair. When not using your Innocent Appearance ability, you grow a pair of wings granting you a fly speed equal to your pace with Agile maneuverability. While these wings are manifested you suffer a -2 to your avoidance and have your pace reduced by 5′.
Special (Restriction): This Talent requires you utilize Custom fitted armor (see Equipment, A: RPG).
Tier V: While many call Uhxbractit a Devil, he is in fact a creature known as a fiend, able to take control of victims by occupying their body. While his half-Infernal children lack this power, they still maintain the ability to bend others to their will. Once per scene (Speed: 7, Duration: Scene, Range: 20′) you may reach into a target’s mind by making a Resolve Action Skill Roll, plus double your tier, against their Discipline Defence. If successful, you may force your target to do you will, issuing mental commands to your target as a Simple Skill Action. Your target must perform those commands to the best of their ability, even if it threatens themselves. The affected target may attempt a Mettle: Stand Firm Action Skill Roll against your Discipline Defence every 12 ticks as a Push 4 Action to break your hold on them.

    Brood of Zalanadere [Racial, Limited]
    Benefit: By Tier
Tier I: You gain the ability to force blood from your pores which harden into a form of armour. You gain a Natural Armour Rating of 1.
Tier II: The rage of Zalandere is impossible for his foes to withstand. Once per Scene you may add your Passive Charisma to a single melee attack, dealing an additional d4(Ch) damage on that attack.
Tier III: Your flesh has becomes inured to the cold, taking on a light blue sheen. You are completely immune to cold climates, and possess AR: 6 against magical sources of cold.
Tier IV: Zalandere is the master of the flames, and his children may call upon them to protect them from harm. Once per day (Speed: 1, Duration: 12 Ticks, Range: Self), you enwrap yourself in living flames which reach out and attack your enemies. For the ability’s duration, any enemy that successfully attacks you in melee suffers d(Ch) in fire damage. This damage does not
stack with similar spells or abilities, such as Energy Aura or Elemental Aura.
Tier V: Even the very touch of Zalanadere’s children is damaging to those around them. Your natural attacks are sheathed in magical flame, gaining the equivalent of a Legendary Flame Rune. Also, once per Scene using Ranged (Thrown) (Speed: 5, Range: 60′ (1 target)) you may throw a ball of fire at your enemy dealing d8(Ch) damage.

    Havili Racial Talents:

    1) Natural Claws [Racial] – Havili (Infernal Form)
    2) Horrific Visage [Racial] – Tier III Havili?
    3) Huge [Racial, Foundation] – Havili

A few things to take a closer look at for the broods…

    Brood of Caneturec
Tier V – Maybe this should say something like, “you gain 1 rank in Arcanum (Meditation)” or. “If you possess no training in Arcanum (Meditation), you gain 1 rank now.” Something that clears up any possible ambiguity for how many ranks and what to do if you’re already trained.

    Brood of Chuhar
Tier II – Speed 2 attack? I thought the minimum for attacks was three.
Tier V – I’m guessing the custom armor restriction that the Brood of Uhxbractit has should also apply here.

    Brood of Ghashmet
Tier I – What’s the speed on that ability?
Tier III – Shouldn’t this be immune to cold? (copy/paste error?)

    Brood of Meliol
Tier III – Is the blindness and deafness meant to be permanent? (That’s how I think it reads, since the duration is instant.)
Tier IV – This is confusing… So I’d get a +2 to persuasion and in addition to that, once per day I can force someone that I just hit in combat to miss me? I think this is intended to be that I can turn a successful hit into a miss after the attack is rolled, but before the results of the attack are rolled. Is that correct?
Tier V – Due to the recent thread about similar abilities, you should be specific about whether or not anyone who was originally outside of the radius would be affected when they try to enter the area.

    Brood of Uhxbractit
Tier V – Wow. This is impressive. Aside from that…. Does the range matter after you have been successfully targeted? And what’s the TN of the Mettle: Stand Firm roll to break the hold? (Do you get a bonus on this roll after a certain amount of time?)

    Brood of Zalanadere
Tier III – Same as Ghashmet: it says, “inured to cold” and give protection from fire. Which is correct?

For Ghasmet’s Tier I ability, for simplicity they simply gain NAR 1. The rest is just fluff. I think that is easiest.

Meliol’s Tier V is listed as Duration: Scene, so yes. It is not duration instant, and not duration sustained.

Melio’s other power was “Ha ha! I hit you!” followed by “I push 4, you miss.”

Meliol’s Tier V is listed as Duration: Scene, so yes. It is not duration instant, and not duration sustained.Ah, I missed that. Sorry.
Melio’s other power was “Ha ha! I hit you!” followed by “I push 4, you miss.”Ah, so it does work as I initially read it. Hmmm…. Mechanically, I have issues with this. Whose to say that the opponent was going to attack you with his next action, anyway? Instead of reading as, “Also, once per day, you may as a Push 4 action force any enemy to automatically miss you after a successful melee attack roll.” how about, “Once per day when an opponent is attacking you, you may (as a push 4 action) declare the attack roll to be an automatic miss. You may only use this ability on a creature that you successfully hit with a melee attack within the last 6 ticks.” How does that sound?

Also, Meliol’s Tier III ability now has two durations listed.

I’m not keen on the having to have hit the creature previously. Meliol seems to be all about persuasion and guile, and less intimidation which seems to be what is implied by you having to have hit them first.

    ?
    But you said,

Melio’s other power was “Ha ha! I hit you!” followed by “I push 4, you miss.”

I was just rewording that so that the mechanics were more clear in this system. If you want to change it from “hit” to “attack” I’m fine with that. It makes it a bit more powerful, but it is a Tier IV power and I don’t think it would be out of line either way.
