Sorry, it was meant to be “Player 1 hits the Havili of this brood. Havili pushes, preventing the hit from happening”

The “Ha ha” mean to be Player 1, not Havili.

    Hello everyone,

I’m reviewing these submissions and will be posting final thoughts here.

While I appreciate the fact that you took the initiative and did all the Broods, most of them smack of being shades of the Gods not something I want. Therefore, I’m concentrating only on the Brood of Uhxbractit for now.

    Brood of Uhxbractit [Racial]
You are the half-infernal child of the Great Lord Uhxbractit, former Lord of Irons and the mightiest Devil King upon Onara! As you advance in power, you begin to manifest more and more traits of your Infernal progenitor.

This is what you guys came up with, with a few minor tweaks by me.

I want to make sure that the Innocent Appearance ability is not an illusion, but actually allows one of the Brood to change into human form. Is that the way it works?

    Brood of Uhxbractit – Prowess
Skills: Any one Physical skill and any one Social skill.
    • All Broods of Uhxbractit have the Monstrous Trait Innocent Appearance, but can only appear as a regular human.
    • The Brood Talent appropriate for your Infernal Brood
    • Any Combat or Skill Talent
    • +1 bonus to Fortitude defense
    • A Brood of Uhxbractit is treated as a Human and as an Infernal for all effects which specifically target either Humans or Infernals (such as Rebuke (sp))
Automatic Languages: Infernal; plus one of Altheran, Hainese, Low Coryani, Auxunite, Yhing Hir, or Milandesian.

    Benefit: Per Tier
Tier I: Uhxbractit kept the Infernals of the Sealed Lands in line and under his rule for centuries through guile and the force of his charisma. Once per day (Speed 4, range 10′), you may make a Charisma Action Skill Roll, plus double your tier, against the Discipline defense of all creatures within a 10′ radius of yourself. Any affected individual is subject to d(Ch) push. Creatures who cannot hear you are immune to this power.
Tier II: Uhxbractit was known for his ability to use his tail in battle, smiting creatures left and right. In fact, it was often thought that his tail had a mind of its own. You grow a small prehensile tail and, when in your Infernal form, gain the Trip Foe Martial Technique when using the tail. The Tail is treated as a standard unarmed attack, using Melee (Unarmed) as its skill.
Tier III: Uhxbractit was born of the Fires of Hell, and you have inherited his ability to withstand them. You are completely immune to non-magical flames, and possess AR: 6 against magical fire.
Tier IV: Uhxbractit was able to traverse long distances on his massive wings, and in emulation of your ancestor, you also grow a pair. When changing into your Infernal form, you manifest a pair of wings granting you a fly speed equal to your pace with Agile maneuverability. During the time you have the wings, you suffer a -2 to your avoidance and have your pace reduced by 5′.
Special (Restriction): This Talent requires you utilize Custom fitted armor (see Equipment, A: RPG).
Tier V: While many call Uhxbractit a Devil, he is in fact a creature known as a fiend, able to take control of victims by occupying their body. While his half-Infernal children lack this power, they still maintain the ability to bend others to their will. Once per scene (Speed: 7, Duration: Scene, Range: 20′) you may reach into a target’s mind by making a Resolve Action Skill Roll, plus double your tier, against their Discipline Defense. If successful, you may force your target to do you will, issuing mental commands to your target as a Simple Skill Action. Your target must perform those commands to the best of their ability, even if it threatens themselves. The affected target may attempt a Mettle: Stand Firm Action Skill Roll against your Discipline Defense every 12 ticks as a Push 4 Action to break your hold on them.

    Please advise.

    Thank you!

re: The other Broods – These are as close to direct conversions of the ones from Legacy of Damnation, complete with their “Godly” associations. I mused earlier that, while we know Canuterec is said to be a fallen Valinor, the rest of the Broods also have very. . . Valinoric powers too (though it can be argued that this is a coincidence). If the other Havili broods see the light of day, and this isn’t where you want to go, we’ll have to start from scratch with them instead of basing them on Legacy of Damnation.

re: Innocent Appearance – According to the Bestiary, Innocent Appearance is a biological trait that is viewed as a disguise, and is not an illusion.

    Innocent Appearance
    Requirements: None
Benefit: This creature may take on an alternate form
of an innocent looking or innocuous object. For example, a
creature can take the form of a common beast, a human, or
even something as unthreatening as a tree.
When a creature is disguised, it is indistinguishable
from the “real thing”. Changing in and out of its alternate
form is considered a Complex Skill Action which might trigger
a Horror Check (commonly equal to the passive skill
value of the creature) the first time a Hero is exposed to that
specific kind of creature (after which the heroes know what
to expect). Particular circumstances might require their own
Horror check (for example, learning that what you thought
was your father was in fact a doppelganger).

    Cody,

    That’s perfect then.

OK, unless anyone has any issues with the above (and please check the Tier V ability to assure it isn’t out of whack with the other Tier V abilities), then we’ll call it a wrap.

Oh – one thing I just noticed:

    Havili Racial Talents:

    1) Natural Claws [Racial] – Havili (Infernal Form)
    2) Horrific Visage [Racial] – Tier III Havili?
    3) Huge [Racial, Foundation] – Havili

Is this something we want to make available to the Brood?

I think so, as I do not see how they would be out of character, but I’m biased \";)\". We might need to specify which talents are applicable to human, and which to infernal to be sure.

Agreed, I think they would be viable talents. However, whether or not they function while in havilli form vs. Innocent Appearance form needs to be specified in some cases. The example already specified (Natural Claws) is obvious that the innocent appearance form should nbot be allowed to make use of that. But here’s an interesting example… Huge.

If it functions in both forms, then you have a huge human while in innocent appearance. (This is perfectly acceptable, rules-wise.) But if, for some reason it was decided that only one of the forms should be huge, then you’d get oddities that would be difficult to manage like having to adjust your Might for each form. And whether or not you meet prerequisites due to those changes.

Oh, and what happens to equipment when you change form? I assume that the equipment stays the same. And this could be interesting if you changed size or shape dramatically, like with wings.

    Scott,

Agreed – that is much more trouble than it’s worth.

Any ideas for the replacement of the Huge Talent?

Personly I say Huge (ta) would apply in both forms for simplicity. If we want new Racial talents, I’m not sure the best options from existing ones that don’t get covered via the Brood Talents already. . . Ideas for new ones?

Further thought after noticing Henry’s repost: we may want to have the Brood talents listed as [Racial, Limited], because if they are just labelled “Racial” then technically ANY Havili can take it, even if not of that Brood. The Limited is counteracted by having to take it at Character Creation, and also having a note saying “By taking this talent it is no longer limited for you” would not be out of order.

If Innocent Appearance is only to human form, we can easily say “You are Huge, period.” This means huge in both forms. I do not see how this is an issue. If people bring the question up, all we have to say is “You are huge in both.”

That said, to keep this discussion moving, what can we include that is already in canon:

    1) Furious Rage – Makes sense to me.
    2) Patchwork Soul – This is a Henry call, since they are half-infernal, half-human so I don’t know where their soul goes (Beltine, or wherever Infernals go).
    3) Infernal Heritage – Many of these are covered by the bloodline talents, but not Cloven Hooves, Bestial Hide, Blood of My Brother, and Ichor for Blood.
    4) Natural Scent – Could work
    5) Toughness – Poison resistance?

I hesitate to use Infernal Heritage, as it seems that the Brood Talents would be a better option for this.

Going into Legacy of Damnation, there are a few things that could work:

    A) Acid Blood (When wounded deal damage to attacker?)
    B) Alien Mind (We already have a Monstrous talent here)
    C) Blood Scales (Kinda covered in Infernal Heritage: Bestial Hide)
    D) Daemonic Appearance (Some of this fall into the Infernal Heritage mold)
    E) Enhanced Senses (Similar to the spell, but perminent?)
    F) Fiendish Feeding (Vampirism for the win!)
    G) Hellish Fury (Improvement on Furious Rage?)
    H) Poison Blood (functionally similar to (A)?)
    I) Snarl (Provoke Horror, or Intimidate vs. Discipline for shaken?)
    J) Natural Rejection (Bonus’ to swim and opposed swallowing because of how nature rejects you)

Thoughts? Let’s try to get this done and locked up by the end of the week!

Wouldnt the purpose of ‘innocent appearance’ be that the Brood PC does not stick out in a crowd? From a roleplaying standpoint, I would assume that the hero would be of normal size. Having the Huge talent would defeat the purpose somewhat. Just a thought.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I was looking for an alternative.

Thank you all for your input!

    Racial Talents:

    Natural Claws [Racial] (Ta)
Horrific Visage [Racial] (Ta) – Tier III requirement
    Patchwork Soul [Racial] (Ta)
    Furious Rage [Racial] (ta)
    Infernal Blood* [Racial] (ta)

    Infernal Blood [Racial, Foundation]
The blood of your Infernal forebearer literally flows through your veins.
    Requirements: Havili
Benefit: You gain 5 additional stamina, and you gain a +6 to all your Defences against poisons.

    Fair?

    Also:

Special: All Talents which apply a change to a person’s body (Wings, Claws, etc) only manifest while in Infernal Form. When in human form the Havili cannot make use of these abilities.

    I like it,

About Huge….. I had an idea

Maybe a talent where as a Speed 5 action they go all “demonic hulk” and grow (as well as triggering all other infernal talents?) it ends up being a weaker version of Huge as you can’t ware armor for example ( Your sudden growth will destroy it, and cause you some damage…… unless you have a special armor rune….)

    Just an idea

    Pete,

I would prefer not to have the Huge Talent available for the Brood. It’s an overused Talent as is and it really doesn’t fit with the flavor of a scion of Uhxbractit.
